It is sad to report that the hugely influential Captain Beefheart has died.

I first came across the Captain and his Magic Band in 1974 with the long-player ‘Bluejeans and Moonbeams’ and was fortunate to see him live a year later at Knebworth supporting Pink Floyd. I loved ‘Bluejeans..’ but wideley regarded as one of his lesser works and later denounced by the man himself. I think it’s best if I leave you in the more capable hands of others. Ed.
